I'm an American who possesses a deep affinity for Canada and its people. I also cherish Canadian history, politics and arts. The greatest novel I ever read -- THE HANDMAID'S TALE -- was written by Canadian literary icon Margaret Atwood. Reading and books are two of my passions, along with film and exercise (physical AND mental). A country's grasp of its past, present and body politic are its lifeblood. This awareness keeps it healthy. For Canada, the three course through its national veins and enlighten its national body. Enlightened's the first word I think of when I think of Canada. We Americans could learn a thing or thousand from our northern neighbors. Human understanding flows from passion and action. I get this. So does my neighbor to the north.
